Do the compression/ vacuum bags works? I am packing for an international flight.?

I am trying to stay underweight and save space to avoid having to ship an extra package. Do these compression bags work to save space and reduce weight? Are they worth the money?!–more–

    div class=contentOn my past experience they did not work..Maybe i got some cheap ones but 5 minutes later my bages were inflated again i got so frusterated i didnt use them i thought it would make everything much easier and neater NOT! The weight will stay the same even if you use those bags that doesnt change. At the end i was glad i didnt use them because as we were going threw security i saw another person who had used those bags they made her open them and she couldnt vacuume them back up(obviously) she had one hell of a time trying to close that suit case after wards../div

    div class=contentI have never found a reason to use them. I use a 26quot; suitcase and have a difficult time making the 50 lb. weight limit packing normally./div
